The short story:
Mark Small is a musician who is deeply involved in every aspect of todays diverse musical landscape. As a musician, he is an award winning multi-instrumentalist who has been nominated and won Grammy’s with a variety of music including Warner Bros. artist Michael Buble to Darcy James Argue's cutting edge “Secret Society”. He has performed on Broadway, Film, Television, and around the world in such far flung locations as the Sydney Opera House and the site of “The Thrilla in Manila” to Madison Square Garden. He has recorded as a sideman for numerous projects both in NYC and Miami as well as having his own projects.
As a composer/arranger, his work has been featured in the recordings and performances of Roxana Amed, Michael Buble, Louis C.K., Damon Grant, and Keith Polasko.
Within the music industry, he has worked to further performance opportunities for musicians, curating at a number of intimate venues such as Lagniappe in Miami and soon to head the Visiting Jazz Artists Series at MDC college.
As an educator, Mark has taught privately since college and taught at the collegiate level for most of his career. He currently teaches at the New World School for Performing Arts and MDC Wolfson. His students have gone on to top choice schools such as Juilliard, MSM, and USC.
